CTS350-X Navtech Radar

The CTS350-X is designed to be compact and unobtrusive. The long distance "line of sight" of the CST350-X has a road coverage of up to 1,000 metres, minimising the number of radar sensors needed on roadways. This, in turn, reduces installation costs and associated civil work, as well as lowering power consumption and maintenance requirements, providing an economic and environmentally-friendly traffic solution.

Benefits

  • Cost effective coverage of up to 1,000 metres of road surface
  • <10-15 second response time of detection and alarming for a stopped vehicle
  • 4-5 metre mounting height provides close and long range visibility of traffic objects

Accurate and Reliable Detection

The radar can be combined with the Witness processing software to produce an extremely low false alarm rate of typically 1 per Km per 24 hours. The accuracy of the device is unaffected by poor environmental conditions, and changes in natural and artificial light. The systems still works in the following conditions:

  • Fog, snow, rain
  • Fire, smoke, and hot gasses
  • Water and spray
  • All levels of light, including complete darkness and sun glare
  • Heavy traffic

Product Installation

The radar is typically mounted at 4-5 metres above the road surface. Mounting the radar at such heights improves visibility over multiple traffic lanes and accommodates both close and long range coverage, utilising the standard spread elevation beam configuration.

Operation and Maintenance

The system has a low cost of ownership, only requiring servicing at five year intervals. More frequent cleaning and maintenance between these intervals is not required and servicing can be performed on-site. Tailored software upgrades are also available.

Typical applications include: Tunnels, Bridge and Surface Road Automatic Incident Detection (AID), Counting and Classification of Vehicles, Enforcement of Illegal Lane Changing and Close Following Manoeuvres.

The system also offers the following detection types:

  • Stopped vehicle detection
  • Wrong way driver detection
  • Traffic flow and queue detection
  • Debris and pedestrian detection
  • Emergency area monitoring
